Unfortunately, Friday I could not meet with Mr. Simms
because I headed down to Columbus to play in the state tennis tournament
Thursday afternoon. So instead of
blogging about my project today, I am going to tell you guys a little bit about
my experience down at states (I hope that’s okay Ms. Samet). Friday morning Dhruv and myself, both singles
qualifiers in the state tournament, played matches at the Ohio State Tennis Courts
where the tournament is held. It
honestly is the coolest experience to play at that venue, as there are big
stands surrounding all the courts and when there are lots of people watching,
it feels like a legitimate professional tennis match. Unfortunately, both Dhruv and I bowed out in
the first round. I lost to the eventual
third place finisher, while Dhruv lost to the eventual runner-up. All was not lost however, as we got to stick
around in Columbus until Sunday to play in the team state tournament, which we
qualified for by beating US last Tuesday.
We were in the final four, and after losing our semis match to the
eventual state champions, we claimed third place by avenging one of our 2
losses during the season. All in all it
was a great experience, and a great way to end my final high school sports
season at Hawken.
